School Canteen Food Is Still Cheap
It was reported in the newspaper, The Star dated 14 June 2008 that schoolgirls in a primary school in Penang buying food at higher prices at their canteen. The canteen operator increased his prices by 20 sen. (Fried Koay Teow RM1.70, Bee Hoon Mee RM2.20, Hot Dessert RM0.60). Cass mentioned that her school canteen did not increase the food price. A plate of food still remains at RM1.00 per plate regardless whether it is fried rice, mee/meehoon soup, fried mee/meehoon or chee cheong fun. If the children do not want to eat the above, they can choose vitagen with bread which is also charged at RM1.00. The price of her canteen food is cheap. Eventhough the food is cheap, her school canteen did not raise the price. Her school canteen has been very reasonable. Most of the hawker stalls in KL have increased their food prices due to the recent price hike in fuel. Now, it is so expensive to eat out.
Robbers Come To Rob And Steal Food
This is a true story. I was told that 3 robbers entered a couple's house in the evening. The robbers tied the husband in the living room. The man's wife was in the kitchen cooking curry. The wife heard the commotion outside the living room so she quickly threw all her jewellery that she was wearing (ring, necklace, bracelet) into the pot of curry. The smell of the curry was so nice prompted the robbers to go to the kitchen. The robbers ate up all the curry and found the treasure in the pot, the jewellery. The robbers were angry with the man's wife for hiding the jewellery in the pot so she was beaten up. Nowadays, robbers are so ruthless. Times are bad as most of the essential items have gone up due to fuel price hike. Even when come to food, the robbers never spare us, not only they come to rob but to steal our food.

Sumatran Rhino
By: Cass
By: Aly
Cass and Aly participated in the colouring activity organised by Honda Malaysia which was held at Ikano. The theme event was called "Save our Sumatran rhinos". Each children was given a picture of a Sumatran Rhino and they have to use oil pastel to colour it. The colour of the Sumatran Rhino coloured by Cass was quite nice but the background was dirty as Cass smudged the paper with her dirty hands while colouring/rubbing. Anyway, I told Cass, "Never mind. It was a good try and a good experience as it was her 1st time participating in the colouring activity in public. Whereas for Aly, it was also a good try doing the sand art.

ABC Soup
Cass and Aly like to drink soup especially the ABC soup. As both the girls like soup, I will try to cook soup more often. The ABC soup comprises of carrot, tomato, onion and potato. It is usually cooked together with chicken bone or spare rib. But most of the time, I will use lean meat which is less oil. Sometime, I will add corn into the soup. When Aly drinks ABC soup, she will usually ask me, "Mommy, you said you cook ABC soup but why I cannot find ABC in the soup, where is the ABC? (she thought the vegetables will have the alphabet shape of ABC) . I only see carrot, onion, potato and tomato". I am not too sure why this soup is called ABC soup. Maybe I should rename it to COPT soup (carrot, onion, potato and tomato).

Cute Little Stools
Bought these two little cute stools from Home Decoration Exhibition (Homedec) '08 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The original price of the stool is RM49.00 per piece but was offered RM35.00 per piece during the promotion. The product is from Thailand. The height of the stool is half of the normal stool which is ideal for children to sit on it. This product is from Thailand. The wood is solid. Cass and Aly love to sit on the stools.

Everyone Can Fly
Recently, our two airlines had launched their low-fare campaigns. MAS one was called "Everyday Low Price" while AirAsia was called "Sub-Zero Fare". Nowadays, it is quite cheap to go for holidays locally or overseas (Asean countries) by flight compared to many years ago. I remember when I was still single in my twenties, my friends and myself hardly go for holidays by flight. At that time, we have plenty of time to spare but do not have enough money to spare for holidays. Now, I am married and have two young kids to take care. It is the other way round already, now can afford to spend a little bit for holidays but no time to spare after becoming a homemaker.
I envy some of my single friends who use to go for holidays locally and overseas very frequently. They have gone to China, Macau & HongKong, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Penang. It is so easy, first they gather a few good friends and after determine the place of visit, book on-line, apply leave and then fly off.
As for us, the homemakers, it is quite difficult. We have to wait for school holidays first. When the kids are still small, it is inconvenient to bring them for holidays overseas. Some of my friends who are also homemakers, share the same views as me. We hope that we are able to go for a trip together without the kids and husbands. It will be nice if we can meet on a yearly basis for a retreat. We can call ourselves the "Homemaker's Club" where we can catch up the old times, exchanging ideas and enjoy each other company. I think the whole night we will only talk about our kids and husband.
I was glad that I managed to follow my husband for his business trip to London and Holland last year in May. It was a 10-day trip and most of the time I went for sight-seeing alone as my husband was at work and meetings. Eventhough, I was alone going around London city and Rotterdam, Holland, I did enjoy the trips. It was a good experience.
We should be thankful for what we have.
Princess Never Wear Spectacles
I had a hair cut recently. Having not use to the new hair cut, I kept looking at the mirror and kept on touching my hair. Aly saw me looking at the mirror for quite sometime, so she asked me, "Mommy, why are you staring at the mirror?" Realising that she has been watching me, jokingly, I told her, "Aly, do I look like a princess?". She laughed and replied,"No." So, I asked her, "Why?" Then she said, "Princess never wear spectacles and princess has beautiful long hair." Oops, I think I should change my spectacles to contact lenses.

No Money No Problem, Use Credit Card
Cass and Aly love to go to Mid Valley. Usually on a public holiday or weekend, we will head to Mid Valley for lunch, shopping or movie. During the last public holiday, Wesak Day, we were at home the whole day. Aly who is 4 years old, told her dad, "I don't want to rest at home. I want to go shopping at Mid Valley". Her dad replied to her, "Everyday shopping only, daddy no more money." Immediately, Aly said to her dad, "No need to use the long long money (she meant our Ringgit Malaysia), use the card, can sign one." Wow!@#! Her dad was lost of words to say. Nowadays, kids also know what is credit card. For them, it is "Buy and sign only". But as for credit card to adults, "Don't leave home without it."
